Not the food, but the plant. In my daily walks I have spent thousands of hours walking in and around rice paddies. Rice grows in these big wet fields. Around April, farmers start tilling the soil and letting the water in to really soak the ground. To say they get muddy is really an understatement. And if I run around in those fields, it is hard to say who gets angrier: the local farmer or Mom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">The rice gets planted sometime in May. Then I spend months watching it grow from these little sprigs of green into towering fields of swaying, rustling plants of rice. And then we wait a bit more until the color starts to shift from green to brown. At some point in October, the farmers know that the rice is ready to be harvested. Then the tractors get uncovered, driven into the mud, and the harvest begins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Once the harvest is over, then it is MY time to play. Some of the friendly farmers have given me permission to run wild on their fields. I even have a friend who has her own rice paddies. Let me just say: playing in a rice paddy is like heaven\u2026the ground is soft and feels great on my paws. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sqs-html-content\">\n<p class=\"\"
